Joseph Guzman, 28, has been found guilty of first-degree murder in the 2020 death of a Hanford man, and is awaiting sentencing.
Guzman was convicted Thursday at Kings County Superior Court of brutally killing Samuel Carson, 54, after just over an hour of deliberation by the jury, and following a 4-day trial. His conviction came one year and one week after Carson s death.
On July 10, 2020, deputies from the Kings County Sheriffâs Office were dispatched to a residence in the 1800 block of Hardcastle Drive in Hanford for the report of a deceased male, where they found Carson s body. Leads were developed and video evidence was recovered that identified Guzman as the suspect in the killing.

Dr. Daniel Coxe III had a pretty nice job in England. He took care of King Charles II, who ate and drank in moderation, exercised a lot and rarely fell ill.
He conducted scientific studies, such as the effect of nicotine on animals. There s an entry in Samuel Pepys diary about the poisoning of a cat with tobacco at a medical conference.
The doctor married the Lord Mayor s daughter and embarked on empire building.
In 1686, the king granted Coxe the right to buy and govern one million acres in what became New Jersey. Six years later, Coxe sold much of that to developers. And in 1696, he acquired Carolana, a tract with North Carolina s present north-south boundaries, but extending to the west coast.
