A trial for a Sparta man charged with killing his girlfriend only lasted for half a day before he made a plea deal with prosecutors.

Shawn J. Hock, a 33-year-old Sparta, Wisconsin, man, pleaded guilty to causing the death of Sara Latimer, 32. Hock had a history of violence against Latimer, including domestic abuse convictions. Latimer was found dead in May 2022, and Hock was identified as a suspect. He is currently being held in the Monroe County Jail on a $500,000 cash bond.
