Onerahi residents opposed to shifting Northland's rescue helicopter base from Kensington to Whangārei airport have gone to the High Court.

Residents around Onerahi airport would effectively be "carrying the can" for the rest of the region with major new "noise pollution" expected if the rescue helicopter base shifts there, says a spokesperson for those opposed to the move.
