The Bay Area's newest professional women's soccer team made its first-ever college draft picks.

King made headlines in August after UNC coach Anson Dorrance, in his 47th year, called King’s debut the “the best first-game performance by a freshman in the history of our program."

The Reign currently hold picks 27 and 43.

Ally Sentnor of North Carolina was the No. 1 overall selection in the National Women's Soccer League draft on Friday night, and her teammate Savy King was picked second. The 19-year-old Sentnor was selected by the expansion Utah Royals. The 18-year-old King went to the NWSL's other expansion club, Bay FC in the San Francisco Bay Area.
