Schaffer Grindstaff, the 29-year-old man who was arrested after his 3-year-old son was found unresponsive at a park in Palmdale and later died, has been released from prison, according to the LASD's inmate website.

The father who was arrested in connection with the death of his toddler in the Palmdale area has been released from jail.

Investigators arrested the father of a toddler who died in Palmdale because of inconsistent statements he made, allegedly to conceal a crime.

A homicide investigation is underway after a child was found dead in a California city, authorities announced Thursday.

Cameron Flores was found unresponsive in a playground just before 9am on Wednesday. He was rushed to hospital and declared dead. His father Schaffer Grindstaff was later arrested.

Homicide detectives arrested Schaffer Grindstaff, 29, for child endangerment and accessory to conceal a crime.

"The cause of death at this time is unknown and will be determined by the county of Los Angeles Medical Examiner," the sheriff's department said.
