Natural Resources Minister Tory Rushton made the announcement on Friday, shortly after the two-member Clean Electricity Task Force released its report calling for the creation two new entities: an independent operator to control energy system planning, and an independent energy regulator.
The Nova Scotia government is planning to move ahead with some changes being proposed for the province’s electricity system. The recommendations are included in a report by the Clean Electricity Solutions Task Force, which the province formed last April.
Nova Scotia Power will continue to exist but will no longer manage access to the power grid, as the province looks to achieve its goal of ending coal use by 2030
