San Jose is preparing to move-in and clean-out a unhoused community near Mineta San Jose International Airport Thursday morning, despite the looming heat wave.

Freezing temperatures across the Bay Area is causing concern about the safety of the thousands of people who sleep on the streets. 

After canceling the homeless count in 2021, Santa Clara County is looking for volunteers to help gather census data later this month.

As temperatures dropped Saturday night in the South Bay, residents bundled up and looked for warmer places.

Pastor Scott Wager said the barriers make it difficult to bring supplies to people in the encampment and send a hostile message to residents struggling to survive.
