Tensions between the health department and Ottawa Impact continue, but this time with much higher stakes.

In recognition of National Childrenʻs Dental Health Month, Hawaiʻi Keiki—HDS Dental Sealant Program providers are reminding parents of the importance of oral health.

As part of its expansion to the neighboring islands, the Hawai‘i Keiki––Hawai‘i Dental Service (HDS) Dental Sealant Program developed a partnership with dentists Emi Orikasa and Steven McDaniel at Hui No Ke Ola Pono, Inc. Under the partnership, the dentists are participating in a community-wide effort to provide better oral healthcare access to public school keiki in Maui County. 

Kennesaw State University researchers are studying school-based dental programs through a recently funded National Institutes of Health grant.

Hawaii Dental Service Foundation has provided a $133,447 grant to continue the Hawaiʻi Keiki-HDS Dental Sealant Program.
