The owner of a popular Seattle restaurant said he has "lost all faith" in the city's police and politicians after his business suffered its twenty-third break-in.

A Seattle, Washington restaurant owner said Thursday that he has lost faith in city leadership after his business suffered what he claims is its 23rd break-in since the "defund the police" movement started three years ago. 

Seattle's crime crisis hit a restaurant for the 23rd time, according to the owner. He says he's lost all faith in the city.

These changes come after a 2019 report on Seattle's criminal justice system, which was critical of the city prosecutor and the municipal court system in its handling of habitual offenders.

There’s been a two-year decline in the number of shoplifting cases referred to Seattle Police from the city’s biggest retailers, despite claims by many businesses to the contrary.

While reasonable Seattleites see shoplifting as a serious problem that is destroying businesses, local activists think it's bold and justified.
