Here is the Carson City area road report for the week of Sept. 27 through Oct. 3, 2021. Closures are expected at the following locations due to road and utility work:

Turn east on Sedge Road and park at the end of the pavement. This is a dirt road with awesome views of the western mountains and all of Carson City. Conditioning Hike Program:

Conservation-minded residents, students, family and friends are encouraged to join the annual cleanup along the banks of the Carson River, Brunswick Canyon and Prison Hill Recreation Area on Saturday as part of the 17th National Public Lands Day.

We have a wine walk weekend coming up and you won’t want to miss it. The ground-breaking on the downtown construction is Monday, so downtown will never look quite the same again. Those interested about the schedule or process won’t want to miss the ‘Pre-construction’ meeting with Public Works at the Sheriff’s office.

UPDATE: 8:24PM: Dispatch has reported that Douglas County rescue crews have located the victim of the motorcycle accident near Sunrise Pass Road in Northeastern Douglas County and are currently on scene. Carson City responders have been recalled.

Water and sturdy shoes or athletic shoes are required. Hiking poles, hat and sunscreen recommended. Some trails are dirt and others are paved.

Hikes are 4-6 miles in length with an elevation gain, sometimes over 500 feet and usually on single track trail. Evening hikes are usually one and a half hours or more duration.

A driver is in hospital after a van caught fire following a crash at the Sedge Road and Watermead Way junction in Tottenham.
