Senior High School Program News Today

The K-12 program will persist and will not be abolished, said a local basic education official despite an order from the Commission on Higher Education (Ched) for state-run tertiary education institutions to discontinue the senior high school program.

The Department of Education (DepEd) has extended the Senior High School Voucher Program (SHSVP) for Grade 11 students currently enrolled in state and local universities and colleges (SUCs/LUCs) for School Year 2023-2024 to prevent the displacement of learners.

Senator Joel Villanueva asked the DepEd and CHED to ensure proper coordination regarding the discontinuation of senior high school programs in local and state universities and colleges.
