The Handball Lionesses of Senegal placed in Group A of the upcoming Senior Women Handball Africa Cup of Nations are currently bracing up to emerge top in Cameroon. The team’s Coach Frédéric Bougeant and his girls are presently taking part in a training camp which opened on May 30, 2021 and is expected to run until June 5, 2021 in Thiès. Before this training camp, the team is said to have had three others in France. It is reported that the handball lionesses and the entire technical squad will be leaving for Cameroon on June 6, 2021. With 48 hours left before the start of the competition after their arrival, Captain Hawa Ndiaye and her mates will have time to make final adjustments on Cameroonian soil before facing Madagascar on June 9, 2021 in their first group match. Facelift For Host Infrastructure
The Yaounde Multipurpose Sports Complex will host the games and some training sessions. Meanwhile, the Mfandena gymnasium and the National Advanced School of Public Works will serve for trainings.
The Senior Women Handball Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) is drawing near with the concerned infrastructures preparing to host the competition in serenity. The Yaounde Multipurpose Sports Complex has been earmarked to host the games and some training sessions. On Saturday May 29, 2021 when we visited the complex, it was evident that the infrastructure in terms of hygiene and maintenance from the reporter’s eye was on point. The surroundings, the main hall and the pitch itself were visibly clean. A source at the complex assured us that maintenance and hygiene work have been done to ensure that the competition is well organised. On Tuesday May 18, 2021 when we visited the office, we realised that the building was newly repainted. We equally met some painters at the backyard continuing the exercise. No one would pass by the area without noticing the office thanks to the imposing nature of the paint. Roll-up banners of the mascot “Nyango” and other key issues concerning the event were spotted in the conference room. In all, the federation is bracing up to welcome the numerous and prestigious guests that will throng Cameroon to take part in this event which promises to be superb. It i
