The BPS Community Health Worker Parent & Student Association says there have been about 5,000 suspensions this school year.

Buffalo Public School students are putting their voice towards overhauling the system of suspensions in their district and pushing for more restorative approaches to discipline.

Local parents and advocates have been speaking out about suspensions since the beginning of the 2022-2023 school year, calling for alternatives for Buffalo Public Schools.

Pharaoh Payton is a third grader in the Buffalo Public School system and said he's never had a school year without lockdown drills.
