The Snowmass Village Town Council has officially appointed Ed Foran to the six-member Krabloonik Best Practices Review Committee, filling a position that opened up in early May when Bill Fabrocini resigned.

It only took about five minutes at a Snowmass Village Town Council work session on Monday night before council members dove into Krabloonik Dog Sledding’s tethering practices at the commercial dog sled facility on Divide Road.

If the owners of Krabloonik Dog Sledding want to continue leasing their property on Divide Road from the town of Snowmass Village, they’ll need to provide easy-to-understand records and plans for an off-tether exercise, adoption, retirement and spay and neuter programs for the dogs to the town by May 2.

Amid nearly three hours of contentious conversation Monday, Snowmass Village Town Council determined that Krabloonik Dog Sledding is in default on its lease and must provide plans and documentation for its adoption program, retirement program, spay and neuter program and off-tether program by May 2 to cure the default.

Danny Phillips, who co-owns Krabloonik Dog Sledding with Gina Phillips, maintains he was not aware that a Best Practices Plan would become a part of their lease with the town when Krabloonik’s owners met with town officials and created the plan by mutual agreement in 2015.
