the thing about these kinds of accidents is that they don t just happen instantly. there are all kinds of indications the well is getting ready to get away from them. one of the most important things, especially in the deep water with big wells like this, is you never turn your back on that well. what i m hearing within the industry, is that actually they had finished setting pipes, what they believed to be a successful well, submitted that pipe on bottom and were in the process of what they call hanging off the casing, which is putting a stainless steel ring just below the blowout preventer on the ocean floor to hold the casing in place. the what we believe happened, was that when you cement the well sometimes you upset the balance and it could be a back side blowout and actually boths out on the outside of the pipe not the inside and because there was a setting tool, inside the blowout preventer, that kept them from closing the blowout
