Joseph Sonnabend opened his medical practice in the Greenwich Village neighborhood of New York City in 1977, on the cusp of what would become one of the most consequential battles of modern medicine. At the time, what is now known as AIDS - acquired immunodeficiency syndrome - had not yet been identified, and scientists were years away from isolating HIV as its cause.

but when i have free time, yes. a cynic would say, it doesn t matter what you call it, sex-positive, feminist-friendly porn, it s still porn, and porn is exploitive. that is because pornography, like any other industry, is just a mirror of society. so if we have a sexist society, we re going to have a sexist pornography. on the internet you find very violent, very extreme things. boys are thinking, whoa, that s the benchmark now. exactly. the proper is people aren t getting a proper sexual education. if parents would talk with their children openly and tell them, look what you see here is two people doing this sexual practice, it s a film, it s not reality. the same way that you tell your child, superman doesn t really fly, so you cannot jump out of the window and fly, it s a film, it s not reality. if we would have an open dialogue on sex, that wouldn t be a problem. do i sound like a prude when i m asking you these questions? no, not at all. you re on your own.
