MICHIGAN CITY — The City Council approved a resolution in support of funding a destination playground at Fedder’s Alley and advanced an ordinance to help pay for it.

The zoo could lose some of its animals if the exhibit isnt expanded, Planning Director Skyler York said. New federal guidelines require more space for the animals.

The park board delayed action on the bids until February, giving time to determine whether the zoo can find additional money for it. The bids came in about $763,000 over

Michigan City leases sculptures through SculptFusion. The idea is for tourists and residents to enjoy a variety of art before the lease is up and new entries arrive.

Residents have until Oct. 29 to offer input on the five-year master plan for the city’s parks.
