it s not easy to be a democrat right now. so hard. if you re an up and coming politician who thinks i m going to run, how could you think about running? how could you raise a dollar? as long as she s there, omaily or cuomo or anyone will not be able to get out of the gates where republicans have ten different options. to bob s point, if she starts to raise money for a possible presidential run but decides not to run, under the campaign finance laws which we ll talk about in the next block, she could give the money to somebody else. actually, it s not that hard to be a democrat today. they re sitting like fat ducks. if you were governor omaily, could you winceconvince a govero support you? if you were governor o malley, you could not convince anybody. you would not win. and that is that. if she doesn t run, she ll be a very good power broker in who does get the nomination. good she decides to tilt one way or another, that s a huge get if
some of them say the presidency is beneath her. i can t speak to tom daschle but to cheryl mills i can. i dealt with her a lot during the whole clinton era, and she doesn t say things by accident. she s one tough lawyer. she doesn t say things without the clintons knowing she will say them. you have to assume they said please put this out there. whether 50-50, in my opinion on why. half is they don t want her to be a target and half might be that there s a possibility that she won t run. so therefore they don t want it to be complete sudden break and planting that seed. that s tinting one and a signal to other democrats who wouldn t run if she doesn t run. joe biden. crack the code, i guess. what do they think at the white house when hillary clinton has such a high-profile and former secretary of state goes out and says we, meaning the united states, the president
