Etna has killed no more than 77 people in the last 2700 years. so here is the thing. intense local monitoring and strong regulation can protect people but i visiting, you put your trust in others and individual tour operators. what you can do is research whats happening at your volcano to help you understand the risks. in coming here, all the people ive met have reconciled themselves to living in mammas shadow in their own unique way.
