Many incoming freshmen live off-campus because there aren't enough dorms, so now the university is spending $36 million to fund a massive series of new dorms.

The UC Board of Trustees announced Tuesday they will be making an investment into new residence halls.

University of Cincinnati is bucking the declining enrollment trend seen elsewhere in Ohio and across the country with its largest-ever incoming class.

The $80 million upgrade includes updated rooms, common areas and more efficient utilities and appliances. The project also expanded the space to accommodate 220 additional students than the original Calhoun Hall.

Calhoun Hall, University of Cincinnatis largest housing facility, reopened Thursday after 18 months of construction and $80 million in renovations.

The sights and sounds of construction have become commonplace for University of Cincinnati (UC) students, with 10 construction projects currently underway.
