The Crown will seek to have the accused, who was 16 when Jannai was stabbed in Côte-des-Neiges in 2021, sentenced as an adult.

Jannai Dopwell-Bailey was a 16-year-old student at Mile End high school, an alternative school in Montreal's west end, when he was stabbed to death after finishing his school day in October 2021.

Lawyers delivered closing arguments to the jury in the case looking into the murder of Jannaï Dopwell-Bailey. The teen was stabbed two years ago outside of his school in Montreal.

Closing arguments are expected next Wednesday and final instructions to the jury on Dec. 6.

"He took his hand away from his side and that&#39s when I realized he had not been punched. He had been stabbed. There was blood all over his hand," court hears.

Pathologist Caroline Tanguay said 16-year-old Jannai Dopwell-Bailey was stabbed at least six times moments after he exited Coronation School in Côte-des-Neiges in October 2021.

A trial is underway for a teenager accused of second-degree murder in connection with the fatal stabbing of 16-year-old Jannai Dopwell-Bailey outside a high school in Montreal’s Côte-des-Neiges district two years ago.

The 16-year-old Côte-des-Neiges resident was killed on Oct. 18, 2021 outside Coronation School.
