Ottawa is requiring carmakers to sell cars that emit no emissions by 2035. The government's strategy allows carmakers to earn and swap credits by selling electric vehicles.

The $35-million facility in Windsor, Ont., will create 144 new jobs in the region and is expected to be open in June 2024, the province said in a release. 

A warning light appeared on the instrument panel of Simrat Sooch's electric car, a 2017 Hyundai Ioniq. He was told he needed to buy a new battery — for $50,000.
