secretary john bryson is in the hospital after being cited for a felony hit-and-run. he crashed into a stopped car over the weekend twice and left the scene and hit a second car. they found him unconscious behind his wheel. brianna keeler is live at the white house this morning. what exactly happened? reporter: well, this happened in the los angeles area in about the 5:00 local hour on saturday. according to the l.a. sheriff s department, secretary bryson, behind the wheel of a lexus, allegedly hit a car, a buick that was stopped at a railroad crossing. there were three guys in the car. according to this press release, he got out and talked to them and then went on his way. as he did so, hit the buick yet again. at that point the buick tailed him and called 911 and the next time when police did find bryson, he was in his car, this pregs release alleged and unconscious and apparently hit another car, a honda accord. the first accident happening in san gabriel and second in
torrential rains leave parts of the gulf coast flooded with more wet weather expected later on today. good morning, everybody. welcome to the monday edition of early start, i m ashleigh banfield. and i m zoraida sambolin. we are bringing you the news from a to z. it s 5:00 a.m. here in the east. let s get started. the united states secretary of commerce, john bryson cited for felony hit and run after a series of crashes this weekend. christine romans has been working this story. she joins us with the live latest. this is shocking news. it s not very often you hear the commerce secretary involved in a felony hit and run investigation. according to the police and the l.a. times and the pasadena star this all happened in california, around 5:00 p.m. he rear-ended a car that was stopped waiting for a crossing train. bryson in his lexus pulled over, told the driver the other car something to the effect of let s exchange our information, but then instead, accordin

14,000 acres have burned in the northern part of the state, forcing more evacuations. so far, more than a dozen structures have been lost or damaged. and people are looking for higher ground on the gulf coast. heavy rainfall is causing massive flooding in escambia county. a state of emergency has been declared and people living in low-lying areas are being urged to evacuate. i spoke earlier with the emergency manager don bosh about it. we re urging all residents that are low-lying or have flooding problems, when we have heavy rains, to consider going to higher ground. maybe with friends or family or elsewhere in the county. it s just trying to get people out of harm s way is the challenge right now. forecasters say pensacola could get another five to ten inches of rain tonight. the pastor of one of the country s largest churches was on the defensive today. i want to say this very emphatically. i should have never been arrested. creflo dollar heads the mega church ch
