Cathaoirleach, Councillor Gerard Mullaney recently launched “A Door Opening: Sligo and the Legacies of Partition”, an anthology to mark the culmination of the Legacies of Partition project and Sligo County Council’s Decade of Centenaries 2012 - 2023 programme.

In September 2012 Jim McSharry wrote to his old school The Line School on Pearse Road, now renamed Our Lady of Mercy Primary School, asking if they had any photos of his time at the school in the 1940s. He received a prompt reply from the Deputy Principal Olivia Flannery who told him that the name of the school in the 1940s was Clocar Naomh Padraig - St Patricks Convent; that he had started there in 1945 and there were 44 boys in the Low Infants class.
