Veteran politician and former Karnataka Chief Minister SM Krishna is undergoing treatment for a "minor ailment", the private hospital where he has been admitted said on Monday.

Sources said that the change in nomenclature, shifting from PRR to Bengaluru Business Corridor, might not prove beneficial unless the State Government incorporates the concerns of land losers, convincing them to part with their land. Despite the land losers demanding increased compensation, the State Government remains unwilling to meet their demands.

Former Congress CMs Ashok Chavan, Amarinder Singh, SM Krishna, Digamber Kamat, Vijay Bahuguna, N Kiran Reddy, ND Tiwari, Jagadambika Pal, Pema Khandu, Himanta Biswa Sarma, Biren Singh, Manik Saha, Rahul Gandhi acolytes Jyotiraditya Scindia, RPN Singh, Jitin Prasada, and others have joined BJP.

Officials attributed the rise in numbers to Covid-19 and the governments initiative to popularise them as Peoples Padma. And as life is moving back to normal, this year the number has dropped significantly. The nominations for Padma Awards for 2024 closed on September 15 after which the entries were scrutinised and now a committee headed by Union cabinet secretary Rajiv Gauba will discuss the nominations with the panel.

A senior BJP leader, Krishna has been keeping away from active politics for quite some time. His announcement comes months ahead of the Karnataka Assembly election.
