ask. i m on air force two with the first black woman vice president. that is a big deal. and where we are headed makes it even more resonant. we are headed to the mississippi delta. to greenville, mississippi. is it resonant for you that that is where we are going today and why? why are we going to greenville and why is that important? it s very intentional. one of the things i ve been working on since we came in in the administration, and it s really a passion of mine, it s what can we do to support small businesses and small business owners, because we know that so many of our communities, black community, asian community, latino community, rural communities, the small business leaders, civic leaders, community lever leaders, they re the backbone of the economy of those communities. these rural communities do not get a lot of political attention.

Bridget Edkin, owner of Slainte Chiropractic, was named the 2021 JAX Chamber Overall Small Business Leader of the Year at a ceremony Feb. 2 at the Schultz Center.
Edkin, a third-generation chiropractor who opened her Jacksonville Beach practice in 2017, was chosen from the 12 selected as Small Business Leaders of the Year by the Chamber Councils, the Beaches Division and the Entrepreneurial Growth Division.
“We have such incredible talent in our community and it’s amazing what our small businesses are doing in Jacksonville,” said
Daniel Davis, JAX Chamber president and CEO. “Dr. Edkin is a talented, innovative leader, and I look forward to working with her over the next year and where she takes this growing business from here.”

The health of Jacksonville’s urban economy will partially depend on the coronavirus-related economic stimulus approved in the U.S. Congress.
One bright spot in Downtown’s real estate market during the COVID-19 pandemic has been multifamily housing. Residential is an area of Jacksonville’s Downtown market expected to grow in 2021.

There seems to be strong demand for Downtown. The Southern Group represents the Florida Theatre. Federal officials need to target workers like artists, stage workers and theater personnel whose livelihoods depend on the in-person experience that was shut down through much of 2020.
