The Southern Virginia University women s lacrosse team took on cross-town rival Washington and Lee Monday night, falling to the Generals 27-3. Senior Hannah Davis led the team offensively, scoring two goals on two shots, while Chloe Mitchell added one goal. Alissa Johnson and Natalie Rice rounded out the point scoring, dishing out one assist each. The Knights (3-2) got off to a great start, scoring the game s first goal after Rice spotted an open Mitchell, who buried the ball in the back of the net. Washington and Lee (3-0) scored two unanswered goals to go ahead 2-1, but Davis knotted the game back up at two after scoring her 11th goal of the season. The Generals closed out the half, scoring 15 consecutive goals, and headed into the halftime break with the 17-2 advantage.

Getting shots off for the Knights (1-4, 1-0) were Makinna Winterton with a team-high three shots, Racquel Whatcott with two, and Anni Hall with one. Goalkeeper Alyssa Trueman faced 12 total shots on goal while recording seven saves on the night. The Generals (4-0, 3-0) controlled the entire first half of the game, only allowing Southern Virginia to get off two shots. The Marlins (0-1) struck first with a goal in the ninth minute, but the Knights (1-2) responded in the 12th minute when midfielder Landon Shelton found the back of the net off of an assist from Jackson Gorringe. Virginia Wesleyan took back the advantage in the 35th minute, but the Knights answered again when Ammon Lewis scored an unassisted goal in the 40th minute.
