Thunderbird, the long-running email and calendar application from Mozilla, has spent this year reorganizing and working on major updates. Now the development team is starting to show off the next big upgrade, codenamed “Thunderbird Supernova.”

Thunderbird is a great email client from the same people who brought you the Firefox browser. Thunderbird gives you IMAP/POP support, a built-in RSS reader, support for HTML mail, and more.

Mozilla Thunderbird is having a resurgence right now, armed with an expanded team of developers and a plan to take over the email world (including Android). The first of several planned updates, Thunderbird 102, is about to start rolling out.

Thunderbird has been around since 2003, but it has stalled in recent years due to dwindling interest from Mozilla and limited funds. However, the project is now making a resurgence, and it might be worth your time to try Thunderbird.

This update is scheduled to land in late June
