Rogers Communications is touting a big first in Canada: the rollout of the country’s first national standalone 5G core, with Ericsson as its vendor.

In 2020 Nokia was named sole supplier for Taiwan Mobile's 5G network under a three-year deal. With SA 5G geared up to go, the operator is prepping for more advanced 5G services that target businesses and enterprise.

Missing out on significant 5G contracts in China hurt Ericsson’s sales in the third quarter, but the vendor partly offset that with growth in other markets, despite starting to feel impacts from supply chain issues.

Xplornet Communications launched its standalone 5G network in rural Canada that will feature fixed wireless access (FWA) services. Xplornet used gear from Ericsson.
