Nye County has earmarked about $6.2 million of its $12 million in Local Assistance and Tribal Consistency Fund (LATCF) grant dollars for a total of 10 projects throughout the county.

The Nevada Silver Tappers and Ms. Senior Golden Years kicked off the holiday season in true Christmas style this past Sunday, hosting the 32nd Annual Christmas Benefit Show inside the Saddle West Showroom.

The Nevada Silver Tappers Annual USO Benefit Show took place this past weekend and the ladies put their best feet forward for two performances that delighted audience members. But it wasn’t just about hosting a fantastic production. The event, as its name implies, acts as a fundraiser for local veterans’ organizations as well.

Administered by the Nevada Governor’s Office of Economic Development, the CDBG program has funneled millions of dollars into the county over the last 40 years and officials are hoping to glean even more of that funding in the coming year. Here’s what they’re hoping to fund.

In September of last year, the U.S. Treasury launched a new federal program that is leaving Nye County with a windfall of $12 million which can be used in nearly any way the county desires.

The kits are equipped with first-aid and mental health treatments, defibrillators and Naloxone medication to reverse opioid overdoses.

The Tonopah Airport is set to see an all new fuel system following the awarding of a Community Development Block Grant by the Nevada Governor’s Office of Economic Development.
