2 arrested over killing of breastfeeding mothers in Rumbek East
Authorities in Lakes State confirmed that two suspects identified as Bol Marial Tong and Matot Mabor Anyak have been arrested by security forces in Juba over the killing of two breastfeeding mothers last month in Akot Payam of Rumbek East County.
Police chief inspector of Alualuak Payam Michael Mayor Malaak told Radio Tamazuj last Friday that the two suspects were caught at the Mabil checkpoint in Juba. The two suspects are caught and arrested in Juba by security forces. They are not yet brought to Lakes State, Mayor said.
He urged the victims families to remain patient until justice is served.,
5 killed and 7 injured in Rumbek Central County
Authorities in Lakes State Rumbek confirmed five people have been killed, seven others wounded and an unspecified number of cattle stolen in Cuei-adukan village of Rumbek Central County on Wednesday morning.
In an interview with Radio Tamazuj, the Deputy Governor of Lakes State Poth Madit Dut said, I can confirm that I have witnessed seven people wounded and they are receiving treatment in Rumbek State hospital. Some are having minor injuries but only one person is having a critical wound with fractures on the leg and it will be okay.”
He revealed that the state government was informed at 3 am of a planned attack in Cuei-adukan, but due to logistical challenges, they were not able to intervene in time.
Lakes state government has paid over 30 million South Sudanese Pounds (SSP) as blood compensation to the families of three people from Warrap State killed in Pacong Payam of Rumbek East County in 2014.
