Police officers are looking for a man and his girlfriend after a shooting Friday on Thelbert Drive. Officers were called to a house in the 1200 block of the street just before 1 p.m., according to a statement released Tuesday by the Fayetteville Police Department. A hazardous materials team was called to Fayetteville State University on Monday night when the odor of gas was discovered in the Rudolph Jones Student Center. Units from the Fayetteville Fire Department were dispatched to the school at 8:45 p.m., according to a statement released by the department.

The Fayetteville Observer Federal investigators are trying to determine where a Fort Bragg soldier and a veteran were before they were killed. The FBI and U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command want to know if anyone saw Master Sgt. William J. LaVigne II, 37, or Timothy J. Two Fayetteville men are accused of operating illegal nightclubs on Cedar Creek Road after separate raids by state and local authorities.
