In discussing the background and rationale to this, Sumner said food insecurity and the environmental impact of industrial food production and distribution are increasing concerns to many people, that food impacts more than 1.2 million children living in Canada, which negatively impacts social, mental and physical health, and that food insecurity has been brought to the forefront for many people as a direct result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Elliott Joins Clinton Raceway | Standardbred Canada

Clinton Raceway is pleased to welcome Tony Elliott as its Assistant General Manager. The 21-year-old Walkerton native joined Hanover Raceway for its 2020 season as the Assistant to the General Manager, as well as the Racing Broadcast team at The Raceway at the Western Fair District in October of 2020. In his position at Hanover Raceway, Elliott helped plan and implement their advertising and social media campaigns, worked with the GM on over-hauling their broadcasting product and was their on-air analyst between races. Tony is a rising star in our industry and is intelligent, hard working and has a passion for the harness racing business. I gave him a lot of responsibility last season and he handled it all very well, said Hanover Raceway General Manager Steve Fitzsimmons.

Race Dates & Adjusted Post Time

Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire “. Hanover Raceway recently announced their race dates for the 2021 harness racing season along with an adjusted start time. The opening race date at Hanover is scheduled for Saturday June 5th After a one year experiment that was highly successful running their race program at 2 pm, Hanover has made a tiny alteration and post time for race days is now 1:30 pm Track General Manager Steve Fitzsimmons relates the altered start time is to allow a window of opportunity for those who wager on multiple tracks on a Saturday afternoon. The betting handle at Hanover Raceway was the highest in 29 years last season which puts the bar very high for this season and while the operators don’t anticipate another 29 % jump they think they can juice it bit more with races that are scheduled to start a few minutes earlier or later than other tracks around North America.
