BELLA VISTA -- Bella Vista City Council member John D. Flynn survived a runoff against Randy Murray to win election Tuesday night as only the third mayor in the history of the city.

The Bella Vista City Council left its Oct. 17 work session hoping it would hear the first of three readings regarding an ordinance regulating short-term rentals during its regular meeting on Monday.

Candidates for Mayor of Bella Vista will answer questions in a forum tonight at 6 p.m. The forum will be live-streamed and a recording will be available for viewing through Election Day, Nov. 8.

BELLA VISTA -- Two proposed ordinances designed to regulate short-term rentals in Bella Vista were tabled by the Bella Vista City Council on Monday.

An agenda originally loaded down with three proposed ordinances dealing with Bella Vistas ongoing short-term rental discussions -- and pared down to only three items after the City Councils Aug. 22 work session -- was taken care of quickly during the councils regular session held Monday night at the District Court Building.

The fourth annual Six in Sixty cleanup is scheduled for Saturday morning, and organizers said they are hoping to make another big impact in Bella Vista by getting volunteers to band together to clean part of the city up.

The new public safety building being built in Bella Vista will have a bronze statue outside in front of the building after all following Monday night's vote by the City Council.

The Bella Vista City Council took care of a couple of housekeeping items associated with a council's first meeting of the year on Monday night before diving into an agenda that included votes on a new fire truck and vehicles for the Police Department.
