Injured inside the venue and a huge brawl spilled onto the street just after 2 00 a. M. There were numerous 911 calls reporting guns in the street and bats and knives. The 25yearold officer arrived with his partner looking for the man with the gun and the suspect allegedly opened fire. Police officer stewart was struck in the right ankle. He returned gunfire striking the male suspect four times. Officer stewart got rushed to Lincoln Hospital where he had surgery on his ankle. Hes recovering with his family by his side. Commissioner bratton and i visited with officer Sherrod Stewart and his family. What an impressive young man who went into this dangerous so well. Today is the fourth anniversary of the officers appointment to the new York City Police department. They identified the shooter who is in the hospital in serious condition.
