The circumstances of last spring's grounding of the container ship Ever Forward has raised important questions about the role of marine pilots in guiding large vessels to and from the Port of Baltimore.

Nearly nine months after the Ever Forward, a 1,096-foot container ship, ran aground in the Chesapeake Bay, it is now known who was piloting the ship.

The Maryland Board of Pilots announced the suspension of the license of the captain of the Ever Forward ship that got stuck in the Chesapeake Bay back in the spring of 2022.

Nearly nine months after the Ever Forward, a 1,096-foot container ship, ran aground in the Chesapeake Bay, it is now known who was piloting the ship.

The Ever Forward ran aground 24 feet deep into the mud on March 13.
