Deputies: Muncie woman stole several hundred items from neighbor s home View Comments MUNCIE, Ind.  A Muncie woman already in custody in an auto theft case now stands accused of stealing several hundred items from a neighbor s home. Stevey Ellen Phillips, 34, is preliminarily charged with burglary and theft in the break-in, which took place at her neighbor s home in the 9700 block of South Delaware County Road 50-W between April 22 and Tuesday. Delaware County sheriff s deputies said the victim  who had been away from her home helping to care for an ailing family member  reported that nearly all of her possessions had been stolen.

In other crime news: Resisting law enforcement: Muncie police said a local woman led them on a brief chase after they found her slumped over the steering wheel of her vehicle in the parking lot of the southside Walmart. Amy Lynn Bogle, 45, was preliminarily charged with driving while intoxicated and two counts of resisting law enforcement. An officer, who had been sent to a report of a “suspicious suspect” outside Walmart, said after he approached her Cavalier, Bogle “sped away… at a high rate of speed.” He described her speech as “argumentative and very slurred.” Bogle was apprehended after her vehicle was stopped in traffic at 29th Street and Macedonia Avenue.

Deputies say a Muncie woman expressed interest in a Chevrolet Tracker a Cowan couple had put up for sale and then fled with the vehicle during a test drive. Stevey Ellen Phillips, 34, was arrested this week on a preliminary count of auto theft. According to an affidavit, the couple had left the 2003 Tracker outside their home, along Delaware County Road 600-S, with a sign offering it for sale for $2,500. They said they were awakened on the morning of April 28 by a woman later identified as Phillips, who knocked on their front door and announced she was interested in purchasing the SUV.
