Tampa Electric's Manatee Viewing Center is set to reopen for the season on Wednesday, Nov. 1. The center has a new platform to get closer than ever to the manatees.

The UH Hilo Center for Maunakea Stewardship closed the road to the summit due to cold and icy conditions, and snow at the Maunakea Visitor Information Station.

Tampa Electric announced their Manatee Viewing Center will reopen on Tuesday, November 1, for the season.

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) was recognized as a serious global issue during the 67th and 68th World Health Assemblies in 2014 and 2015. In the United States, the CDC have estimated that more than 2 million infections and 23,000 deaths are due to AMR annually. In Europe, annual deaths attributable to AMR are 25,000. Visitors can check out the manatees up-close starting Nov. 1. The center closed in March 2020 as the coronavirus pandemic took hold.

The Tampa Electric Manatee Viewing Center will reopen Nov. 1, 2021, TECO said in a release.
