Aspatria ended this first season in the Regional 2 North League with a defeat – 24-17 at home to Morpeth, in fact the fourth in a row. 

Games involving Aspatria, when they encounter opposition from the upper half of the Regional North League seem destined to follow a familiar pattern. 

Aspatria are doing it tough at the minute with a lot of battered and bruised bodies as well as people missing with injuries.

With relegation concerns a fading memory Aspatria cut loose against a depleted Consett side and provided a feast of tries in a 51-10 victory.

Two weeks ago at Bower Park, Aspatria despatched Stockton with plenty to spare and greatly improve their own chances of surviving a tough first season in the Regional 2 North League.

A late flurry of activity from Aspatria threatened to derail Durham City at the very time the visitors looked to be easing a pathway to victory. 

For the first pre-season friendly Aspatria took a nostalgic trip down the M6 to play Tarleton.
