It’s a push to combat learning loss, an area Richmond Public Schools is now trying to tackle, but they need more people to help.

Although funding from the province, called Grant for Students Needs, rose by 2.1 per cent, the TDSB says expenses are increasing higher than that due to inflation.

On today’s program we speak with CoNECT's founder and director Jessica Bauer Walker about the growing need to address the disproportionate rate of out-of-school suspensions in the Buffalo school system. Jessica is joined by her daughter, Serea, and fellow CoNECT staff member, Khadijah Hussein, to talk about the \“Solutions not Suspensions\” bill and what their group is doing to better tackle our students’ needs.

Another financial boost going to our local school board. MPP Toby Barrett announced that the Ontario government is providing over $313 million to the Grand Erie District School Board while the Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board is set to receive over $132 million. The GEDSB is seeing a $8.8 million boost over last year while the Catholic board is getting a $4.7 million increase.
