The highly-touted Russian Sukhoi Su-75 "Checkmate" could still be years from making its first flight, but it seems that Moscow continues to seek foreign buyers for its bargain basement "fifth-generation" fighter.

Russia's Su-75 Checkmate stealth fighter was pitched as a low-cost alternative to the F-22 and other stealth platforms. And yet, it may never fly. 

While much remains unknown, there has been minimal acknowledgment from Russian officials that research and development work on the MiG-41 fighter is underway.

Reports from Russian state media have suggested that Sukhoi was working on three variants of the Su-75: a single-seater, a two-seater, and an unmanned version.

With first flights pushed back from 2023 to 2024 and beyond, it remains to be seen if the Su-75 Checkmate will ever get off the ground.
