New Delhi, May 26 (IANS) IPS officer Subodh Kumar Jaiswal on Wednesday took charge as the new Director of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Currently, the government has shortlisted three names of whom Subodh Jaiswal, a 1985 batch IPS officer of the Maharashtra cadre, is said to be the frontrunner.

New Delhi, May 25 : The two candidates, who were said to be the front runners for the post of Director, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), were dropped after Chief Justice of India N.V. Ramana cited a Supreme Court guideline on appointment of police chiefs.
According to sources, CJI Ramana pointed out the top court s guidelines in the Prakash Singh case of March 2019, which made it clear that no officer with less than six months to retirement, should be appointed as police chief.
CISF chief Subodh Jaiswal appointed CBI director with tenure of two years
Subodh Jaiswal has been appointed the new director of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The CISF chief was on a short list along with DG Sashastra Seema Bal, Kumar Rajesh Chandra, and MHA Special Secretary VS Kamudi for the top job.
