A Texas man filed a lawsuit on Jan. 18 claiming that he was wrongfully accused of stealing from a Sunglass Hut location in Houston. According to HuffPost, Harvey Murphy Jr., 61, is suing Macy’s and parent company EssilorLuxottica — the parent company of Sunglass Hut — for false imprisonment and negligence.

An attorney for Harvey Murphy Jr., a 61-year-old grandfather, says he was sexually assaulted at the Harris County Jail while being wrongfully detained on an armed robbery charge. Murphy was in California when the crime was committed in 2022 and was incorrectly identified as a suspect based on the use of surveillance footage and facial recognition technology, according to the attorney.

Police have released surveillance photos of two alleged suspects in a theft from the Sunglass Hut in Hanover⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠.
