The Sunsphere will go back to its original design of blending with the sky, and visitors will get an extra floor to explore.

According to Visit Knoxville, it is part of Phase I of a revamp of the historic landmark, with Phase II involving the construction of a visitor center.

City data showed those visitors came from 15 states and 16 countries including Austria, Italy, Switzerland and Brazil.

The Sunsphere will reopen on Feb. 22 after it closed towards the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Prepare for a year packed with celebration in Knoxville, as the city plans for the 40th anniversary of the 1982 Worlds Fair.

People can buy memorabilia from the 1982 World's Fair at Bliss & Tori Mason Shoes on Gay Street. Most items are from a personal collection curated over decades.
