Mangaluru: Monsoon continued to be weak on Monday despite yellow alerts across the three coastal districts—Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada.

The situation at hydel stations is grim. Linganamakki, constructed across the Sharavathi River, has a gross water storage capacity of 151.75 TMC, but it has only 24.04 TMC, which means only 16% of the storage capacity is filled.

New Delhi, July 16: The Mangaluru International Airport (MIA) has introduced the automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) system, enabling seamless entry and exit of vehicles to and from the airport. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rain to lash Karnataka till July 10, while it also issued a red alert for the coastal districts of Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada and Udupi. The much awaited monsoon rain have arrived in the state, bringing cheers to the farming community.

The IMD has issued a red warning to Uttar Kannada, and an orange warning to seven districts namely Belgaum, Haveri, Shivamogga, Udupi, Chikmagalur, Dakshin Kannada, and Kodagu.
