Six arrests in search for 330,000 rounds of stolen ammunition POLICE have arrested six men from the Leeds and Kirklees area as part of a large-scale operation to track down 330,000 rounds of stolen ammunition. West Yorkshire Police is continuing enquiries over the ammunition today. It was taken from the West Midlands on February 17. The men were arrested overnight between Thursday and Friday, February 26, and significant quantities of ammunition were recovered following the police operation in Farnley and Birstall. The men detained overnight remain in police custody under arrest for offences of conspiracy to steal and handling stolen goods. West Yorkshire Police has been working in partnership with colleagues from the West Midlands Police, Yorkshire and Humber Regional Organised Crime Unit and the National Crime Agency (NCA) to conduct the investigation.
A teenager has been found safe and well seven days after she went missing - as a 39-year-old man arrested in connection with her disappearance was released from custody.
Tara Whelan, 18, was last seen in Halifax, West Yorks., on the morning of December 15 before she was reported missing.
