Midpeninsula students standardized test scores were all over the map, shedding light on how schools and students are performing post-COVID, according to California Department of Education data released last week.

Maine School Administrative District 49 held a meeting Wednesday to provide a public update on efforts to build a new elementary school serving students in the Fairfield area.

With the increase in COVID-19 cases despite using the same guidelines as last year, school districts are seeing large increases in the number of positive cases from just the first few months of school.

As the pandemic drags on into a second year, enrollment is still down at local schools, a data reporting project shows. Local private schools appear to be benefiting and are reporting big jumps in applications.
