his personal car, in the parking lot of the military base. and from there, it went through to the chick-fil-a incident, where he served chick-fil-a at his promotion party. who would have thought that eating chick-fil-a would get him in trouble with superior officers. you broke the story and that very same day, or the next day, is when they went after him with this article 15 charge? that s right, sean. and one of the things that it called the military to verify information that we were getting and we alerted them we were doing the story. the very next day, when we got word from mr. wells his client being brought up on article 15 charges. article 15 doesn t mean he has any chance of being kicked out of the military, but, still, i would assume he wants a clean record, and can you prove that they are connected?
clearance if they end up with bad credit? yes. and their commands are get involved. we heard from the soldiers this is the reason they went to these places. it starts out as a small problem and ends in a much larger problem when you lose your car because you get one of these loans. what are lawmakers doing about it? if you re getting to the point where superior officers are getting involved, people are losing their security clearance, obviously this is a serious problem. are there proposals to fix this? the pentagon is going to conduct a survey, get an idea of what products are out there and what new rules are needed to capture some of these products that got around the law very easily. is there any indication at these bases there s help available for folks who do get in trouble? there are resources on base. that s what makes this problem particularly vexing. they have these aid programs where they can get a 0% loan, but they sometimes it does involve getting their commandi
avenue they did not say what they were looking at or who they are talking to. we asked a short time ago if anyone had been arrested and they would not answer that question. what we re told is that the police and other officials have been here since about 5:30 this afternoon. but when we got into the lobby and started to ask state police questions, one of the state police top officials, one of their superior officers came down and said basically that all the questions had to be referred to the fbi and they pretty much shooed us out of the lobby. they have been here for several hours. take us into the apartment complex.
fact that these are service men and women who are serving all of us in the line of fire, in combat units, some of these veterans we re talking about, their life in the war zones. and often young people whose care is entrusted to their superior officers. this is not rape is not just a regular crime. it is not like being held up. it is a crime with longlasting ramifications for both men and women. one of the things that the officer brought up is the degree of especially in the military, of a blame the victim mentality. you have some people who have come forward and then been subject themselves to charges under the code of military justice. that just can t happen. you can t have a situation where it s too risky to report these crimes. thank you so much, ruth. we ll see you a bit later. coming up next, as we talk about the victims of sexual assault in the military, a call
while the illegal immigrant goes free. that s right this isn t something rookie agent we are talking about. 18 years in law enforcement, a military veteran, ice for a number of years and was an instructor at the academy. he raised quite a fight with his superior officers. he refused to do it. he said i m not going to put the person back out on the street. as a result of that he s facing a three-day suspension. if it happens again his union reps are afraid this guy might not only lose his job but his pension. reporter: one of the confusing things about the story is the new presidential directive as we understood it was about minors. kids brought here through no fault of their own as minors, in high school, the president didn t think they should be deported. this guy is 35 years old, why he is part of a presidential priority? that s a great question. i reached out to ice and they are not talking about this incident.
