PETERSBURG Contrary to what some might think, Bg Brinkley does not necessarily see the word shit as a curse word. It s been anything but a curse for her business.
Brinkley, the owner of the Sweet Dixie on North Sycamore Street, sells a line of spices called, well . Super Shit.
It s the brainchild of Chef Marla Cohen, whose wicked sense of humor shows in the line of spices she produces. The name is an homage to a Yiddish method of cooking shit arein , (pronounced shi-tah-RINE), where a hodgepodge of ingredients is tossed into the recipe. Chef Marla, who is Jewish, learned the method from her great-grandmother.
