Tata Group is in talks with Taiwan's Pegatron to form a partnership to manage an iPhone assembly plant that is under construction in Hosur, Tamil Nadu.
The factory was inaugurated by IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw which is likely to generate around 5,000 new jobs. The manufacturing facility has an annual production capacity of 25 million units.
This makes Tata India’s first homegrown iPhone maker, after Wistron Corporation agreed to sell a plant in the southern part of the country to the conglomerate.
